British department store Marks & Spencer confirmed in a press release today plans for expansion in India and aims to open 80 stores by 2016. This news comes after the company's financial results which were published last week and saw M&S's ninth consecutive quarter of falling general merchandising sales. The expansion strategy is part of the company’s ongoing scheme to become ‘a leading international’ retailer, which was set in motion by company chief executive Mark Bolland in 2010.

Following the opening of the J.Crew flagship store on Regent Street, today French luxury brand Louis Vuitton opened its new multi-leveled shop-in-shop, known as ‘Townhouse,’ in London department store Selfridges. The new shop-in-shop was designed by interior designer Gwena?l Nicolas to give its customers a true luxury Louis Vuitton experience. American fashion retailer Abercrombie & Fitch has announced that it is closing all of its stores for its Australian-themed lingerie, beach and nightwear brand Gilly Hicks after declining revenues.
