By the end of May, cotton sowing has completed nationwide by 96.8%, similar with previous year. According to cotton acreage survey conducted by China Cotton Association, the national cotton planting acreage was 68.22 million mu, 6.7% down over 2012. Since spring sowing, weather conditions in most cotton fields nationwide were positive for cotton growth with less disease and insect occurrence than last year, though weaker development might cause slight yield decline in Yellow and Huai rivers regi

Marks & Spencer (M&S) is set to report an eighth consecutive quarterly fall in clothing sales next week. The UK’s biggest clothing retailer will publish first-quarter sales on the same day it hosts an annual shareholder meeting. The country exported textiles worth $ 34 billion during the 2012-13 financial year.
Higher exports this year would help narrow the current account deficit. There is a worrying surplus of imports compared to exports, he said at a news conference on Thursday.
The State’s garment industry, a dominant exporter, had contributed precious for

At the outset, it may seem that a rebound of India`s garment production as well as overall textile exports in April is somehow connected to a collapse of an eight-storey commercial building Rana Plaza in Bangladesh.
The link seems obvious since India might become a dominant export player if preferential tariffs are not given to textile exports from Bangladesh by the Un

Only one in 10 garment factory buildings inspected by engineers from a top Bangladesh university were structurally sound, underlining the scale of safety problems for the world's second-biggest clothes producer, the head engineer said Friday.
Building owners rushed to request engineers check their buildings in the wake of the collapse of the nine-storey garment factory building in April that killed 1,129 people, Bangladesh's worst industrial disaster.
