The International Cotton Advisory Committee cut its forecast for cotton prices for a third time, as it downgraded demand estimates, even as US officials cautioned that hopes for Chinese imports may be too large.

ICE cotton rose on Monday, touching the highest level in more than a week, supported by short covering and expectations of continued demand in China as the government in the world's top textile market began stockpiling. The Turkish apparel industry exported items of clothing worth US$ 10.56 billion during the January to July period of 2013, according to data released by Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Union (ITKIB).
During the first seven months of this year, the exports from apparel firms amounted to US$ 10.56 billion, indicating an increase of 8.1 percent compared to the same period in 2012, reports Haberler.com quoting AA news agency.

Cotton growers around the world spent an average of 11 cents on planting seed to produce a kilogram of lint in 2012/13, representing 7% of the net cost of production. (Net costs are total costs excluding land rent and the value of cottonseed.)

The imports of textiles and apparel by the United States increased by 3.11 percent year-on-year to $ 59.014 billion during the first seven months of 2013, according to the Major Shippers Report, released by the U.S. Department of Customs.
